Invicta FC-UFC strike deal for Fight Pass

June 6, 2014 by Jason Cruz 16 Comments

Invicta FC is partnering with the UFC to show its live events and previous shows on the UFC Fight Pass digital network.  The deal is a multi-year, multi-event agreement.

The deal reflects the already amicable relationship between the two companies.  It should help both organizations.  Invicta FC gained some traction with its events as it received interest from its UStream PPVs.  However, in its attempt to monetize its iPPV events, it experienced severe issues with its pay wall so much that it had to take it down.  Thus, it lost out on a lot of buys.

For InvictaFC, the deal lands it on what appears to be a reliable digital network and it taps into a dedicated UFC fan base.  For the UFC, it gives it another option for content on its network and expands its library with Invicta’s previous events.  It also keeps its content “fresh” with the addition of live events.

Payout Perspective:

The UFC and Invicta have had a working relationship for some time. Whether it was having UFC fighters involved in Invicta events or granting the UFC its straw weights to create a new division for it, rumors swirled that the UFC would purchase Invicta.  This is close enough.  InvictaFC needed a dedicated platform to show its fights and the Fight Pass will do it for them.

Wow. Pretty impressive. Fight Pass is really starting to take off. Goes to show you the constant growth of mma. I was bummed when I heard that the WWE subscription bombed, but am thrilled with the results here.

The UFC just pretty much let Invicta do all the dirty work & now they’ve come to collect the crumbs. WMMA is in a terrible state, no one knows anything about it & there is basically no competition outside of 105 – 115. You have a one-trick pony “champion” who was just handed down a belt representing it and all the talk is on a match against a one-time stand-up fighter who hasn’t competed in 5 years. Let us all get on the hot tub time machine back to 1993 & enjoy the freakshow.

They should of let Invicta go out of business like Bellator. Dana is too kind to save a bunch of garbage female fighters.

Hot Tub Time Machine was a fun movie.
Outside of RR, I do not think there is much interest in not only women’s mma but even men at 135 and below. Upcoming PPV will tell the story.

Any idea the subscription on fightpass? not me, but curious if it has been reported.

How the hell was Ronda Rousey just handed a belt? she fairly won the Strikeforce belt and when they folded into the UFC, she became champion, the exact same way Jose Aldo and Dominick Cruz became UFC champions.

I believe Rousey began her UFC career as UFC champ as they carried over her belt. As opposed to her first fight being “for” the championship, she was “defending” her UFC title although she had not ever fought in the UFC before.

So the exact same as Jose Aldo?
Cruz had to beat someone on the last WEC show to go in as UFC champion, Aldo didn’t.

@Josh_HokitUFC You’re gonna cry you were cancelled by the left for “free speech”. And then you’ll post 200 times a day on Twitter until fox and friends invites you on to “tell your story”. And after that you’ll run for congress and your campaign will be centered on white grievance.

This is

Real question. Was this announced or is there an intern somewhere that is taking note of ever fighter’s follow and unfollow?
