Could a Brock Lesnar return to the Heavyweight division be possible or is this just fanning the flames of publicity? At Wednesday’s press scrum after UFC Fight Night 35 he did not rule out the former UFC Heavyweight coming back to the Octagon.
The Lesnar rumors began around UFC 168 as many on social media tweeted that Lesnar was in Vegas with many trying to connect him with the UFC. It turns out it was a public relations move to hype his return to the WWE.
More importantly, the WWE has “exclusive rights” for Lesnar.
Via Dave Meltzer at MMA Fighting:
“WWE has exclusive rights to services (to Lesnar) and such exclusivity extends to ultimate fighting competitions,” said a WWE official.
Still UFC president Dana White says he still talks to Lesnar and was coy about a Lesnar return.

“I said recently [that Brock] said had has some regrets with MMA because he wasn’t healthy, because he was going through those stomach problems the whole time he was here. So he has regrets.”
Payout Perspective:
For those not wrestling fans, Lesnar is ramping up for WWE’s big event this spring, Wrestlemania 30. It’s hard to fathom that Lesnar gets involved in the Octagon until after Wrestlemania. But, is this something UFC fans want? One might recall his last fight at UFC 141 (watch on the Fight Pass if you have access) and see how Lesnar wilted in his fight with Alistair Overeem. Certainly, his performance at 141 may be due to his diverticulitis but what can we expect from a return to actual fighting.
2013 was a down year for the Heavyweights on PPV as its PPV spark lost its luster last year. While we’ve seen the emergence of Travis Browne, there are not any other heavyweights out there that have drawn interest this past year. Would you be interested in Lesnar returning to the Octagon? Would it bring a boost to Heavyweights on PPV? Lesnar certainly was a PPV attraction several years back but what would he look like now.

UFC must be in a dire situation in the US, if they want to bring back Brock.
Brock’s PPV numbers dropped once he started to look “human”.
Lucky for DW, he has casino money to keep the UFC afloat.
Lesnar would definitely help the UFC’s ppv numbers, but as mentioned, he was losing popularity before he left. I don’t think he would bring the kind of money that would make the UFC happy, especially considering the cost of Lesnar and how his presence makes other fighters demand higher pay.
Even in the world of fake wrestling, I don’t think the difference in WWE ppvs with Lesnar are huge differences. In fact sometimes the number of buys went down from the previous year on ppv events he was on after his return to WWE.
