ESPN UK reports that the French Sports Ministry will continue its ban on mixed martial arts. Despite lobbying efforts by Zuffa which had identified the country as a “massive opportunity” the country has decided to maintain its ban.
Showing that lobbying efforts have not shaped or change perceptions of MMA, the president of the Women’s Committee for Federation Francaise du Sport d’Enterprise stated, “I was appalled to find out how UFC was lobbying in France, especially when [told] how UFC has tolerated derogatory statements and attitudes against women. We cannot allow such an organisation to destroy all the work we have done to promote equality through French sports.”
Payout Perspective:
The French ban on MMA represents two things. First, it shows that MMA continues to hold a negative perception by many not informed about the sport. Secondly, Zuffa lobbying has been ineffective in its attempts to persuade the “influencers” or other governmental groups to legalize MMA. Although many in North America may not be concerned with the French ban, it does affect its plan for the globalization of the UFC brand. It also is a sign that it must either rethink its lobbying strategy.

Bad payout from Korean zombie:
“I will be making 20,000 dollars to show, and another 20,000 dollars if I win. I do not get any PPV points. After two more fights, I will be able to negotiate my contract. Hopefully, I will be in a good position when that happens. I believe I am a very popular fighter, but I do not make a lot of money. There is definitely a problem with that. MMA was at its peak in South Korea when Hong Man Choi fought Fedor Emelianenko. Hong Man Choi was a huge star in South Korea; there isn’t anyone like that anymore. TV ratings were 10 percent in those days, now they are barely 1-2 percent. South Korea needs a star like that for MMA to flourish. I am lacking in a lot of ways, but hopefully I can become a star with the way I fight.”
Low pay and no PPV what??? So they’re base pay is the only one they will be getting .cheap ass promotion pathetic
MMA in Korea now on the decline ….MMA has peaked…barely 1 to 2 percent Lol..
Fastest growing?

If KZ’s manager didn’t attempt to renegotiate before the title fight, then that’s their decision. This idea that the UFC should voluntarily call him and offer him more because he’s in a title fight is strange. You’re only worth what you can negotiate in the absence of a CBA. It’d be a tough sell anyway; he hasn’t fought in over a year, and that was on FUEL.
It continues to amuse me the way that MMA pay is compared to boxing, football, etc. as if the promoters/leagues are just paying the athletes all this money out of the goodness of their hearts. Most MMA fighters don’t have enough leverage to negotiate a more valuable contract. They don’t have a CBA, and don’t have the Ali Act.
“Korean Zombie’s pay for a title fight is terrible!” Oh, I’m sorry, I forgot there was a clause in the Zuffa contract that states a fighter automatically gets a big pay bump for participating in a title fight. Give me a break. This will be brought up every time there is a title fight now that fighter pay is a “hot-button” issue, but it’s silly to expect a fighter’s contract to magically change the moment they’re offered a late-notice title fight. If they want more money, they need to ask for it.
I’d like to see fighters get paid more as much as the next fan, but unless you’re talking about challenging their federal status as independent contractors or getting serious about forming a tenable association, you’re just making white noise and shaking your fist at the realities of the current market for MMA talent.

I bet 90% of those who complain are also the ones who steal all the UFC content. They don’t contribute anything to the UFC or its fighters while yelling that the UFC is the one cheating them.
When I first started following MMA. There was very few people who were following it. Most everyone at the time were actually training unlike the mostly spectators of today. Even being trained and hardcore fans. We had a mantra of supporting the sport. That means paying for the PPV’s. Watching every time it was on TV. Wearing MMA shirts, and buying our favorite fighters merchandise. Ironic how that changed once the casual spectators come into the sport. Stealing everything. Now its all of a sudden there is a stigma around wearing MMA shirts and supporting the sport and its fighters. People who created that stigma were noobs telling others they are noobs for wearing it. If you want a fighter to make more money. Buy PPV’s . watch the shows on TV, and buy his shirts and support his sponsors. But I have a feeling all the complainers will never do that. They are not real fans of the sport. Just a blind voice that complains about everything. Like Locust. Bounce from thing to thing sucking the life out of it.

No.in boxing . if it’s a title fight .purse is automatically bigger…there is an industry standard of at least the minimum…
..or if the fight card Is bigger scale even the fighters on the undercard get more money..let’s say undercard on canelo mayweather….undercard guys can negotiate or the promoters themselves offer a bigger pay…because its a big event and big money…

Bs before you were all “the fighters come and go”. basically getting down on people for being a fan of the fighters first and the promotions second. now its all”yeah i am persecuted by tuf noobs for repping my favorite fighter on my tee shirt.” The only people i make fun of are people wearing.tapout or affliction gear, which account for the vast majority of mma wear. And i support local mma by paying my gym dues and actually helping people get ready for the real deal. not bs and his cardio kickboxing or taibo. basically bs is a tool and he is a flip flopper who can’t keep his ufc notecard talking points straight .
BrainSmasher says
I never said I was persecuted by noobs. I wear my MMA clothing like I always did. I don’t let others influence my decisions. Im not a sheep like you. I like the look and feel of Affliction shirts. Not all of them but obviously the ones I decided to purchase. I like tapout shirts because they are thick and durable. Atleast the ones from th4e company. Not the Walmart ones. I always liked training in them or going to the gym in them. I admit it sucks that there are people wearing those clothes who don’t know anything about the sport because they were a fashion trend at one time. Back in the day. When someone wore a MMA shirt. You knew they not only trained. But were hardcore fans too. Some today may not even be able to name a MMA fighter. But we all knew that was a price we have to pay when we have been trying to spread the word and grow this sport many years ago. Now that it has grown. It is silly to stop representing the companies who are representing the sport and dumping money to fighters. Especially if you want fighters to get more money.
I would also like to remind you that some of the Affliction shirts ARE fighters shirts. All those fighters got a cut of their own signature line. I had 6 Affliction shirts. 5 were Couture or Liddell. The other was a cool design I liked.

You are a liar because everything you say on here is clearly dana white influenced . that or it is a remarkable coincidence that you agree with him 10 times out of 10. You are a sheep. I’m the wolf in sheeps clothing. SUCKA!
BrainSmasher says
I am successful in business and so is White. It doesn’t have to be a coincidence. There is a right way of doing things and a wrong way. We just both see the right way to do things. We both want the sport we love to prosper for ever. The reason fans disagree with him is they are only a fan of men. They are living through someone else and make their opinion based on that point of view. “What is best for me…I mean him.” They forget they are just someone sitting on a couch being entertained and what is really best for them is the best possible fights, the most fights, at the best price. So that entertainment continues and gets better at a reasonable price. With that beign the case. A lower conservative fighter pay is best for them. Im not the fighters agent. I look out for whats best for me. The same as the fighters are doing. The only people who are not doing that is the mindless fucks who act like they are stuck in the matrix. Cant think for themselves and avoid reality by directing all their attention to someone elses life who has actually created a productive life.
aintitthetruth says
All i want are the best possible fights. I’m not so concerned with price because there is always five dollars at buffallo wild wings. more fights does not equal better.you’ve never fought so you can’t fully appreciate what these people do. I’m not a fan of men i am a fan of fighters. if you have fought and gave it your all then you are hard to me. If you haven’t, and advocate for low fighter pay for any reason then you are just an idiot. you are an idiot bs.
BrainSmasher says
I have fought. Just never felt the need to do so under the protection of rules. Fact is most MMA fighters would never fight outside of sport and would have never had the balls to fight in the early days of MMA. I have fought and they were REAL fights without a safety net tough guy! lmao!
