Another extension request in the Bellator-Alvarez lawsuit

March 4, 2013 by Jason Cruz 1 Comment

Attorneys for both Bellator and Eddie Alvarez have requested another extension in the ongoing lawsuit.  The parties have agreed to another 2 week extension for Bellator’s attorneys to file an Answer to Alvarez’s Counterclaims.

Presumably, the 2 week extension will allow for the sides to continue its settlement talks without further litigation in the matter.

As you may recall, the parties had initially allowed an extension until March 1 for the parties to try to come to a resolution of the lawsuit.  It did not happen and now the parties have agreed to another 2 weeks.

Payout Perspective:

Its hard to read whether the second joint request for an extension means that the parties are progressing in its settlement talks or that they have stalled.  We should know in two weeks as its hard to imagine a third request for an extension.

On a side note, if you are interested in legal issues in MMA, I’ll be the featured guest on SportsLawChat this Sunday, March 10th at 5-6pm PT (8-9pm ET) discussing the Bellator-Alvarez lawsuit, the New York-Zuffa lawsuit, union talk, global expansion, Ronda Rousey and more.

Bellator should let him go. Spike builds the stars, not the other way around
