MMA Junkie reports that the UFC’s Rich Franklin made an appearance today on “The Doctors” daytime talk show. Franklin describes practical tips for self-defense.

Although the “self-defense tactics” segment has been done over and over again, its nice to see Franklin appear on the show. Unlike Bas Rutten’s show on Fuel which is more entertainment that practical tips, Franklin shows his teacher roots. He’s articulate and explains the situations very well. Not sure if Franklin will be back in the Octagon, but being an “MMA Ambassador” seems like a good way for the UFC to use him to promote the brand and teach the practical tips of mixed martial arts. Appearances like these humanize fighters and it can ease the tension between bloody cagefighter to actual person.
