MMA Torch is the stand alone MMA website entry from Wade Keller, editor of the infamous Pro Wrestling Torch Newsletter. The site draws natural comparisons to The Wrestling Observer/F4WOnline, but pales in comparison. The use of invasive advertising techniques is a huge turn off, but the site manages to overcome its limited reach with its strong content and features offerings.

So… Strikeforce: Noons vs Diaz II only pulled in 7,559 in total attendance and $528,446.50 in gate receipts. That’s REALLY poor and is an indicator that Strikeforce’s “home base” which supported them so much in the beginning of their MMA venture has largely abandoned them… not a good sign. Also, it has been confirmed that CBS is out of the Strikeforce business for the rest of 2011.

Also, WEC 51 only pulled in 3,791 fans for a gate of $190,620. Really unfortunate, the argument should be stronger than ever to merge the WEC and UFC brands. It seems like Zuffa is losing out on money it could be making with stars like Aldo and Cerrone when they could be bolstering average UFC cards into mega fight cards.
All seems pretty relevant.

MMATorch just may be the worst site on earth. Even trojan-ridden raunchy porn sites pale in comparison when it comes to the aggrevation.

?? What do you mean Rich? I’ve never had any problems on MMATorch. Good articles, although VERY subjective. Enjoy their “Roundtable” articles. Posting comments there is a problem.
Machiel Van says
It really is just opinion pieces, not objective journalism, but at least it doesn’t lie about this fact.

Unless I use Google Chrome, the site is just about impossible to navigate. It will bog down IE Windows 7 in a heartbeat. It takes after just about any Pro Wrestling site out there, except for the Wrestlingobserver site in the way the pop-ups and crappy page re-directs completely make me want to strangle somebody.
Machiel Van says
Ah, I use Chrome so I see now.

No worries, everything will be covered in a Diaz vs Noons II Payout Perspective.
Also, CBS is not holding a Strikeforce event for the rest of 2010 (not 2011), which just means it won’t be holding an event within the next two months. They are still talking about putting something together for first quarter of 2011.

I’m always so impatient about those Payout Perspectives lol.
