Sportsnet Announces Weekly MMA Studio Show

TORONTO (April 15, 2009) – Rogers Sportsnet continues to be the home of Mixed Martial Arts with the debut of the new weekly show MMA Connected presented by Ultimatenbet.net on Monday, April 20.

The first episode of MMA Connected will air Monday, April 20 on Sportsnet East and Sportsnet Ontario at 11:30 p.m. (ET), Sportsnet West at 12:00 p.m. (MT) and Sportsnet Pacific at 8:30 p.m. (PT).  New shows will premier each Monday night and be repeated each Tuesday and Thursday.

Host “Showdown” Joe Ferraro will give you all the latest news as well as previews and reviews from around the Octagon including fighter profiles and rankings.  Shows will also feature a regular segment called Fight School where UFC veterans such as Welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre, Middleweight fighter Jason “The Athlete” MacDonald and the number one Lightweight contendor Kenny “Ken Flo” Florian explain the finer details on how to finish off an opponent.

Sportsnet will have even more MMA action with a preview show entitled UFC 97: Countdown Canada on Saturday April 18 at 9:00 p.m. (ET)/6:00 p.m. (PT).

Sportsnet Connected’s own RJ Broadhead will be hosting the show from the Sportsnet Studios while “Showdown” Joe Ferraro will be at the Bell Centre in Montreal.

Features during the hour-long show include St-Pierre discussing whether he can wrestle the “best pound for pound fighter” moniker from Middleweight champ Anderson “The Spider” Silva, a no-holds barred interview with UFC President Dana White and a preview of the night’s highly anticipated bout between Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell and Mauricia “Shogun” Rua fight.
