According to a report on MMAJunkie.com, the Kentucky-based American Fight League has added two notable names to its roster. Former WWE superstar Bobby Lashley and highly regarded female fighter, Tara LaRosa.
Lashley will add name recognition and star power to the AFL line-up. The signing will also draw fans from the professional wrestling world, much like Brock Lesnar did for the UFC. Lashley has an extensive amateur wrestling background and pursued professional wrestling, presumably, for the money. But more and more, amateur wrestlers are leaving or altogether by-passing the scripted word of pro-wrestling for the legitimate competition that MMA provides.
Unlike Lashley, an MMA rookie, Tara LaRosa is an experienced female fighter who is regarded by many to be one of the best, if not the best in the world. (Yes, even better than Gina Carano.) The fact that her contract is non-exclusive makes one wonder if Gary Shaw would be willing to put her in the cage against Carano.
