TUF 25 Episode 12 draws 408,000 viewers on FS1

July 7, 2017

The Ultimate Fighter 25 Episode 12 drew 408,000 viewers on FS1 Wednesday night according to Nielsen via ShowBuzz Daily.

In the season finale of TUF 25, Jesse Taylor defeated James Krause via submission to earn a shot at redemption and a fight Friday at the TUF 25 Finale against Diego Lhima.  For Taylor, the return comes 9 years after he was removed from his chance to be a TUF winner as he was kicked off the show by Dana White prior to the Finale during his season.

Payout Perspective:

Overall, ratings for the season increased (especially DVR ratings) during the season. It was better than last season and on par with TUF 23 ratings. We will see with the final DVR ratings for episode 12 next week but it seems like this has been one of the better seasons is the past couple years. This might be due to the fact that they brought back some recognizable faces to the house.

TUF 25 Episode 10 draws 456,000 viewers

June 22, 2017

The 10th episode of the TUF 25 drew the best ratings this season with 456,000 viewers on FS1 Wednesday night.

There were two fights on the show as Jesse Taylor submitted Hayder Hasaan in the first round and James Krause edged out Ramsey Nijem in three rounds.

The ratings are the best for the season and the best since Episode 1 of TUF 23 (note the headline for that linked post).

Payout Perspective:

The good news is that ratings are trending up as the show nears its end.  That’s a good sign.  We’ll see if those ratings transfer over to the TUF Finale.  Certainly, the lack of NBA or NHL is helping the bump in the ratings.

TUF 25 Episode 9 draws 422,000 viewers on FS1 Wednesday night

June 16, 2017

TUF 25 Episode 9 drew 422,000 viewers on FS1 Wednesday night per Nielsen via ShowBuzz Daily.  It’s the biggest ratings of the season.

The fight of the night featured Dhiego Lima and Gilbert Smith with Lima earning the victory and moving on.

The event drew 0.16 in the A18-49 demo per Nielsen.  Per ShowBuzz Daily, an episode of House Hunters on HGTV drew 1.78 million viewers during the same time slot.

The episode was the highest rated episode for TUF since episode 7 for TUF 24 last season.

Payout Perspective:

No rhyme or reason why Wednesday’s episode drew so well.  Perhaps a lull in the schedule as The Finals and Stanley Cup ended.  Good news for TUF as they try to manage some buzz before the TUF Finale.

TUF 25 Episode 8 draws 303,000 viewers on FS1

June 8, 2017

The Ultimate Fighter Episode 8 drew 303,000 viewers on FS1 Wednesday night according to Nielsen via ShowBuzz Daily.  The show drew 0.12 viewers in the A18-49 demo.

The show featured two fights.  Hayder Hassan took care of Joe Stevenson with a first round TKO in the special wild card fight.  In the second fight of the night, Tom Gallicchio submitted Justin Edwards in the first round via RNC.

The show featured the annual coach’s challenge which was a game of tetherball in a pool with each coach having to balance on planks.  TJ Dillashaw came back to win the challenge and the money associated for him and his team.

Payout Perspective:

With Game 3 of The Finals happening the same night as TUF, it was clear that this was not going to be a night for live viewership.  Noticeably, DVR ratings are starting to increase over the course of the show, so we might be seeing people viewership pick up on the recording side.

TUF 25 Episode 7 draws 372,000 viewers

June 1, 2017

The Ultimate Fighter Episode 7 drew 372,000 viewers on FS1 Wednesday night according to Nielsen via ShowBuzz Daily.  The show drew 0.16 viewers in the A18-49 demo.

UPDATED:  Episode 6’s DVR numbers made it the most-watched episode this season thus far with 666,000 viewers.

The show featured the return of Joe “Daddy” Stevenson as he took on Justin Edwards in the fight of the show.  Edwards scored a unanimous decision over Stevenson who looked much older than his 34 years.  The episode gave us some context about the TUF 2 winner since his days in the UFC and they were very sad.

Perhaps due to name recognition and that Dana White has a soft spot for Stevenson, he was given a “wildcard” to go forward in the tournament despite his loss.

Payout Perspective:

The ratings are slightly off from last week and it had some stiff competition with the Stanley Cup.  The hockey finals on NBC Sports Network drew over 3.1 million viewers on Wednesday night.  TUF Episode 7 is slightly off from TUF 23’s Episode 7 from this time last year.

TUF 25 Episode 6 draws 380,000 viewers

May 25, 2017

The Ultimate Fighter 25 episode 6 drew 380,000 viewers on FS1 Wednesday night per Nielsen and via ShowBuzz Daily.

The episode drew 0.15 viewers in the Adult 18-49 demo.  The fight of the episode featured Ramsey Nijem versus Julian Lane.  Nijem stopped Lane despite almost being choked out on two occasions.  It featured another dustup between TJ and Cody as well as Justin Buchholz and Duane Ludwig.

While not previously reported by this site, last week’s DVR adjusted rating for Episode 5 grew to 510,000 viewers.  The DVR numbers improved from last fall’s episode 5.

Payout Perspective:

The ratings from this week make it the highest-rated episode of the season.  To think that 380,000 is the highest rated episode this season in comparison to ratings a couple years ago reflects how much the show is more geared for DVR numbers rather than live ratings.

TUF 25 Episode 5 draws 301,000 viewers

May 18, 2017

The 5th Episode of TUF 25 drew 301,000 viewers on FS1 Wednesday night.  The ratings are the exact same as the 5th Episode of TUF 24.

It drew a 0.13 in the Adult 18-49 demo.

Ironically, the Live + SD rating is the same of last season’s TUF 24 Episode 24.  TUF 23 Episode 5 drew 361,000 viewers.

Also of note, last week’s DVR ratings for Episode 4 drew 543,000 viewers which makes it the most-watched episode this season.

TUF 25 Episode 4 draws 348,000 viewers

May 11, 2017

TUF 25 episode 4 drew 348,000 viewers on Wednesday on FS1 per ShowBuzz Daily.  The episode is up in ratings from last week.

The fight of the episode featured James Krause and Jonny Nunez.  Krause, a UFC veteran, defeated Nunez.  The episode also featured appearances by Miesha Tate and Clay Guida.

The episode drew 0.14 ratings in the adult 18-49 demo.

Payout Perspective:

The NBA Playoff game between Washington and Boston drew 3.756 million viewers on TNT.  Game 7 of the NHL Playoffs between Pittsburgh and Washington drew 2.480 million viewers on NBC Sports Network.  Notably, the ratings in the adult 18-49 demo was down from the prior week.
