Showtime Boxing Saturday night, Mares-Cuellar: 327,000

December 14, 2016 by Jason Cruz 4 Comments

The Showtime Boxing event featuring Abner Mares and Jesus Cuellar drew 327,000 viewers on the network and peaked at 368,000 per Nielsen.  The three-bout telecast drew an overall viewership of 271,000 viewers.

The event aired at the same time as HBO Boxing’s event which may have caused fans to split viewership for both events.

The co-feature on Showtime saw Jermall Charlo KO Julian Williams.  The fight drew 321,000 and peaked at 370,000.  The telecast also replayed the Anthony Joshua-Eric Molina from earlier in the day.  The fight drew 224,000 viewers and peaked at 244,000.  The live showing of Joshua-Molina on Showtime Boxing International drew 368,000 and peaked at 390,000.

Payout Perspective:

Showtime viewership is usually lower than HBO events so this seems in line with the ratings.  The afternoon live event (4:07pm-4:21pm PT) of Joshua-Molina did better than the overall three-bout telecast which is promising news that fans are searching out specific fights and fighters.
