PBC on CBS Saturday posts 0.8 rating

July 20, 2015 by Jason Cruz 24 Comments

Sports Business Daily (subscription required) reports that Saturday afternoon’s Premier Boxing Champions on CBS drew an overnight rating of 0.8 in the 4:00-6:00pm ET time slot.

According to Sports Media Watch, 3 of the 4 PBC events on CBS have failed to earn at least a 1.0 overnight average.  Saturday night’s fight on CBS featured Carl Frampton and Alejandro Gonzalez, Jr. with the IBF super bantamweight champ Frampton earning the win.

The ratings points represent the percent of all households with televisions tuned in, according to Nielsen.

Saturday also featured UFC Fight Night 71 and boxing on Showtime later that evening.  PBC on CBS also went up against The British Open on ABC.

Payout Perspective:

In comparing the ratings from PBC on NBC to CBS.  April’s PBC on NBC drew a 0.80 rating and 2.9 million viewers.  The latest PBC on NBC from June drew a 0.95 rating.  It appears that the PBC cards on the network are slipping slightly in the ratings.

Wow. This is horrible and again to point out the average viewers for this event is considerably lower than those of NBC because the NBC ones are in prime time.

This is very funny watching these idiots flush hundreds of millions completely down the drain.

I think the biggest issue with the current PBC ratings is there is no residuals from the so called fight of the century. Usually when sonething gets so much mainstream attention there is continued interest for atleast a year or so. The FMJ vs Pacman fight was such a disaster it caused none of those fans to follow boxing after the fight. If it was a success those people would have been interested in more boxing. PBC is getting poor ratings and they actually have to hope what I said above is the case. Because if they are getting a boost from mainstream fight of the century fans. These numbers will only get worse as those fans slip away. But boxing should be riding on a high right now but because of the greed and the everyobes for themselves structure of boxing. It will be another missed opportunity!

It was a weird time for a card. Again, it’s frustrating for fans to have to struggle to find the the fights. I know when HBO and Showtime have fights on, but PBC is across different networks and different times and it makes it tough to stay on top of. Some uniformity might help.

Ratings aside, do we know the # of viewers who watched? How did it compare to the fight on Showtime that night?

i didnt even know boxing was on on cbs and I”M A HARD CORE FIGHT FAN. who the fuck are these fighters? i’ve never even heard of them. its pretty clear what Boxing gets with a good card. Its about 2.8 to 3.5 million if its a good (not geat card) on basic cable it can get 1.5 million peak with a good but not great card. if they can put on good fights consistantly and occassionally a great fight. and just stay one one damn network they will have very strong numbers. you put on shit fights in different channels what the fuck do you expect. consolidate this and put some good fights on a Boxing will be strong. look at HBO. its strong because there’s no damn confusion. main event fights should be on before 8pm east coast time however. none of this 11pm shit.

First off, PBC was on a network and did an awful rating…. .8. The UFC had a low profile card on FS1. Not comparable idiot.

If Mayweather-Berto only gets 8m for a peak, that is a disaster both financially and reputably. JDS-Velasquez would be bigger and those two aren’t even close to the biggest draw.

    “Garcia fights on PBC.”

d didn’t like the point Jesus is coming made but he couldn’t come up with an argument against it(no surprise there) so he tried to point out a factual error.

Except he messed that up too. Jesus was correct, mikey garcia does not fight on PBC. In his confusion and rush to troll d thought jesus was talking about Danny garcia who is the PBC fighter.

    Another d fail.

Jack is a professional homosexual and a retard when it comes down to logic. He is still upset that my analysis of the UFC’s ppv numbers being back to previous standards and last year being a fluke was correct. He was proven wrong, but this was no surprise because he is a retard.

He is now aligning himself with someone using the name “Jesus is Coming” which in itself should be accepted as a loon. With that being said, he was talking about stars and did not distinguish which Garcia he was speaking of. Either way, his argument was that bigger stars are on HBO, yet Danny Garcia, who is one of boxing’s biggest names/draws, fights on PBC, the very last name he used for his example of fighters with the premium stations.

Jack, it must really sting to see these ufc ppv numbers doing so well, doesn’t it? JACKASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!

“he was talking about stars and did not distinguish which Garcia he was speaking of.”

Jesus is coming said, “Also the biggest problem is all the stars and or exciting fighters are on hbo … Canelo cotto golovkin kovalev even tho they are not active Mickey garcia”

Your only out at this point is to focus on the fact that he misspelled Mikey but he’s obviously not talking about Danny. He even made reference to the issue of mikey’s inactivity.

You were even wrong on the dumb line about Garcia being “the very last name he used for his example of fighters with the premium stations.”

Face it, you got yourself in a hole and just dug deeper with that last comment.

Or in reality, since Jesus boy doesn’t use commas, it was difficult to decipher between who he was talking too.

What’s really amusing is that someone who rarely posts on here, only comes out of the woodwork to focus on ambiguous, trivial misconceptions on my end. All the while ignoring the focus of this topic and every other relevant issue I discuss on here.

Face it, you are still angry that I was correct about the UFC ppv numbers and now you and all the other morons have to eat crow over it. You are a total fucking idiot.

“Or in reality, since Jesus boy doesn’t use commas, it was difficult to decipher between who he was talking too.”

I know reading can be difficult for some but thinking that blaming a lack of commas was a good idea is laughable.
You can’t fool me, you are just hurt that you were wrong and that I called you out on it and you are now desperate to sell me on any defense no matter how lame.

“What’s really amusing is that someone who rarely posts on here, only comes out of the woodwork to focus on ambiguous, trivial misconceptions on my end. All the while ignoring the focus of this topic and every other relevant issue I discuss on here.”

Oh you mean like how you ignored the point jesus made and instead chose to focus on a factual error? More interestingly though, are you trying to criticize me for dealing with you in a way that you find objectionable?

The guy that charges into nearly every article, ignoring arguments, ignoring the focus of topics and calling people fags, idiots, turds, and talking about dirty diapers and who admits he’s here to troll now wants to criticize others for not dealing with him in a way he likes?

    I find that amusing.

I didn’t ignore him idiot, my point which was clearly implied was that I still disagree with to some extent. There are stars under the PBC banner: Khan, Thurman, GARCIA, etc. There may be more on HBO, but realistically I could care fucking less. The point was this was a horrible card, and did terrible ratings on a network. WHICH YOU FUCKING IGNORED RETARD!!! Where we you responding to what I said seeing how I commented first?

You are a hypocrite with every comment you spew out moron.

The only reason why you are desperately reaching to find anything off with my statements, is because you were exposed for the idiot you were with your ppv prediction. It isn’t my fault you are a stupid fucking idiot who doesn’t know shit about these topics. You obviously have a hard on for anyone who trolls on here- like Sal, The Gayest, Leon, etc. Yet when someone trolls them, you get your period soaked panties in a bunch. Stop crying you little bitch and deal with the reality that you are a trolling, hypocrite who was proven wrong way back and is doing everything he can for some petty revenge.

I’m just glad you finally cracked to the pressure of a stronger argument. Good, I expect to see you take this into consideration in future discussions. See how much we can agree on when you have someone like me to keep you focused.

You should take your own advice.

I never said there wasn’t more on HBO. You are just too stupid to follow the conversation. You are arguing just for the sake of arguing and making yourself look like an idiot in the process. Go back and read my initial argument idiot.
