UFC Fight Night: 911K; Bellator 123: 667K

September 8, 2014 by Jason Cruz 12 Comments

The overnight audience numbers from Friday’s UFC and Bellator shows have come in and are in line with the initial ratings we brought to you on Saturday.  The UFC drew 911,000 viewers for its main card while Bellator MMA drew 667,000 viewers.

In addition, the 3 hour UFC Prelims preceding the UFC Fight Night 50 main card drew 485,000 viewers.

According to a Nielsen source both main cards went head to head from 10-10:45pm (7-7:45pm on west coast) with the UFC main card on FS1 edging out Bellator on SpikeTV 834,000 to 781,000.  Jason Floyd of The MMA Report tweeted the total number of viewers watching UFC or Bellator were 1.6 million viewers.

Payout Perspective:

For those wondering, the WWE’s taped programming of Smackdown scored 2.7 million viewers on the SyFy channel.  If you are Bellator, you can see the ratings as a positive from the perspective that when it went head to head against the UFC, it was not too far off the UFC viewership.  Still, in the end, the UFC prevailed on FS1.  We will see if Bellator will be able to keep up the momentum in viewers this week.  As for UFC Fight Night 50, the ratings are up from the 689,000 viewers of UFC Fight Night 49.

What the hell are you talking about truth? What “real” numbers are hidden? These are the only numbers available. Do you have different numbers? Great, please post the source.

Truthspitter (?) pops up from time to time to make mysterious statements and accusations, but never backs anything up.

I agree with Diego, but in reality its all fiction for the most part. I don’t think the UFc could figure out how many employees they have let alone how many views they get for any event !! They have the truth, that maybe 2 people know, then they have the big fat lies that everyone else is told is the the truth lol

TVbythenumbers and other ratings sites are all in on the conspiracy, even though they have nothing to do with MMA or Pro Wrestling.

There is no way of knowing exactly, unless they monitor everyone with a TV set in the future and not just the 20,000 who have a Nielsen box.

This is the way it’s measured now and that’s what advertisers look at and that’s all that really matters.

duck – I agree. It’s not a perfect system (not even close) but we have to use what we have available.

Honestly it doesn’t matter if the system is perfect or not. Even if someone knew the exact numbers it would only help our curiosity. If advertisers don’t trust it and use that sources numbers they they are useless. What advertisers use to base paying for is the only one that counts to anyone involved except fans.

    BS,

If someone had a way to figure out the perfect number, that method would become the industry standard. Advertisers don’t fully trust the current system and there is pressure to change it to something more accurate. Until then, we use what we have.

what are my so called “mysterious statements and accusations”? aye, complete tosh from thee thus leaving thou accusatorially tosh completely; thine censorious play continues… you know not what you read

diego, i want those lovely lovely percentages! ( http://oi60.tinypic.com/2irovf5.jpg ) they are oh so wonderful for forecasting the fate of all involved. when i click on a story such as this i expect to see a semi to full breakdown of all data sets but such as is not.

now of course i dont have to come here to procure the information; im only interested in seeing if its a properly detailed story

bellator pulled even worse numbers than i predicted,

    ( mmapayout.com/2014/07/lawal-lashley-and-kongo-added-to-95-bellator-card/ )
“if it does even lower than that, then… well, this will be a quick burial”

seems to me that bellators so called “big” events are trending towards the gutter; which doesnt spell G-O-O-D, so tis truly B-A-D

@Josh_HokitUFC You’re gonna cry you were cancelled by the left for “free speech”. And then you’ll post 200 times a day on Twitter until fox and friends invites you on to “tell your story”. And after that you’ll run for congress and your campaign will be centered on white grievance.

This is

Real question. Was this announced or is there an intern somewhere that is taking note of ever fighter’s follow and unfollow?
