Pacquiao buys ownership stake in OneFC

August 3, 2014

Yahoo! Sports reports that Manny Pacquiao has purchased a stake in Asian MMA organization OneFC.  CEO Victor Cui confirmed the transaction to Yahoo! Sports.

Cui told Yahoo! Sports that Pacquiao would be promoting OneFC and the sport in the region.  Pacquiao’s celebrity status should help garner more attention for the brand. The MMA organization is already popular in the Philippines and in addition to Pacquiao’s involvement it has signed former UFC star Brandon Vera.

Payout Perspective:

Wise investment for Pacquiao?  He is set as head coach of a PBA team so why not own a part of an MMA organization.

It certainly is a positive for OneFC.  While it has a strong following in Asia with good mainstream sponsors within the region and a solid television deal, the UFC is starting to make inroads.  OneFC has made moves to increase its exposure.  It has signed Ben Askren and Brandon Vera, Rich Franklin has been added to the front office, announced shows in mainland China and now Pacquiao.  For Pacquiao, it provides a level of investment and a possible way to stay visible after his days of boxing are over.

Even boxers want a piece of MMA hahaha! Boxing is a sinking ship! He knows boxing is on it’s way out and people are to smart and sophisticated to be entertained by two idiots punching each other in the head over and over. Nice to have you aboard PAC lol.

Wow a boxer can buy mma promotion hahahaha…and that with all his tax problems…boxers get paid real money.

  4. duck on August 4th, 2014 6:06 AM

He bought a small stake, with money that probably isn’t even his.

  7. Saldathief on August 4th, 2014 9:23 AM

this has little to do with mma but more to do with manny paying off a gambling debt. in the end manny and his money will be departed

  8. BrainSmasher on August 4th, 2014 10:20 AM

Tops IS squirming! Even admits boxers are dumb and can be talked into bad investments just to avoid admitting boxing is on life support! Boxing is a joke! Every big name boxer goes broke because like this fans they are idiots. Boxing Shill!

  9. Logical on August 4th, 2014 12:01 PM

Unfortunately that is not a good investment, Judging by past & present MMA promotions i think it’s fair to say that only the UFC is making a profit, and even they have accumulated quite a lot of debt.

Maybe there is more to it and he is being paid as well to be some sort of celebrity that attracts investors & media, kind of in the way that ‘Affliction’ was using Donald Trump to garner media attention.

  10. BrainSmasher on August 4th, 2014 6:42 PM

Actually I think some of those shows were profitable even if they ran into issues at the end. Pride was profitable up to the end and anyone involved likely made a good return during their run. The same for Strikeforce. It seems they wanted out becUae of looming fighter contracts while under a limited tv contract. But I believe they did very well. But choose to sell high before the problems hit them.

  11. FightBusiness on August 4th, 2014 6:51 PM

They went to Pac because he’s the biggest damn combat sports star in Asia. Not some MMA fighter. He adds legitamacy to their league. Clearly the UFC’s Rich Franklin (good guy) wasnt enough to keep the company afloat financially. Pac is also a head coach for a basketball team. Its called a porfolio.

  12. FightBusiness on August 4th, 2014 7:02 PM

Mybrainhasbeensmashed- In order for a Boxer to go broke he had to at first be rich. MMA Fighters need not have to worry about going broke because they will never be rich unless they’re fight Gods (Jones, GSP, A. Silva) Cotto, Alvarez, Bradley, Klitschko, Froach these men are far from fight Gods and will all have cleared over 15 million minimum when there careers are over.

  13. D on August 4th, 2014 9:29 PM

Why would a boxer bring legitimacy to a MMA promotion, you idiot?

Yeah, that is why boxers on Floyd’s prelims and even main card boxers on major promotions can make as low as a 1k for a fight. These guys literally lose money to fight.

You should seriously stop posting, you are such a moron.

  14. tops E on August 5th, 2014 12:30 AM

The title of this article should be “Boxer owns MMA in asia” hahahaha

  15. FightBusiness on August 5th, 2014 6:41 AM

D- You talk about Boxers making 1 k per fight and then talk about Pac. Does he make 1k a fight dickwad? No he actually makes more than any MMA fighter. LOL. You know that “massive” sport. he’s the second highest paid athlete in sports idiot. By the way Boxers might get paid 1k a fight but there is a light at the end of the tunnel unlike in mma. In Boxing you just have to be good and you’ll still make a shit load of money in due time. just ask Adrian Broner & Robert Guerrero and zab judah. they will all clear 10 million when there careers are over. Machida is awesome and makes 400k a fight. BWAHHHHHHH!

  16. D on August 5th, 2014 7:53 AM

Hey stupid fuck, do you even know what you are posting? About 99% of professional boxers make that little money. That means nearly every pro boxer is broke. You take the handful of exceptions to the rule and act like they are the norm.

Also, Pacquaio is on the promotional side of his fights as well, which is why he makes more money dummy. You still haven’t grasped this concept. And he is NOT the second highest paid athlete in pro sports, he isn’t even in the top 10 anymore.

There is light at the end of the tunnel? For who? The 3 guys who make more than any mma’er? Haha. Dumbass.

Broner/Guerrero will not make that much money when their careers are over. Judah at one point in time was tops at 140lbs until Tszyu made him throw a chair at a ref. So 10m isn’t exactly the most impressive thing considering his position, even if he does clear that, which remains to be seen.

Andre Ward makes between 1-2m per fight and many would argue he is the best boxer in the world right now. You see how apples to oranges comparisons work, idiot?

  17. D on August 5th, 2014 7:54 AM

The title of every one of tops posts should be “autistic kid figures out how to use a computer”. Hahahaha.

  18. Mr michaels on August 5th, 2014 10:13 AM

By “bought shares” you of course mean “was given”

  19. FightBusiness on August 5th, 2014 9:55 PM

D- You really are a dumb creature if most Boxers dont make anything than mma fighters are even in a worse perdicament. You really are stupid as fuck. pac is numer 11 on Forbes list but he made 41 million in 1 fuckin year. LOL. and the only reason he didnt make more was because his rios fight didnt sell well which would have pushed him much farther up the list.

Bradley, Khan, Cotto, Martinez, Chavez Jr, Marquez, Klitschko brothers , Danny Garcia, Broner, Guerro, Canelo, Madaina, Froach, Andre Ward, Mosley (when he was still fighting), Malinaggi, Glovokin, Brandon Rios all these men will make over 5 million dollars when their careers are over and most on this list will make over 20 million when it is all said and done. Now please provide me with a list of 15 mma fighters who are simply good (no fight gods) who will gross over 5 million dollars when their careers are done. At least half of your list must feature fighters who will gross over 20 million. I’ll be waiting fuckin dummy faggot. No excuses just names bitch.

  20. D on August 5th, 2014 10:25 PM

Always funny when you make a comment, because you just fabricate figures in your mind then attempt to claim they are accurate. You claim Manny Pac is the 2nd highest paid athlete in pro sports, in reality he isn’t even in the top ten. You then acknowledge that afterwards proving that you just made up that number out of thin air and you try to claim I am the idiot for pointing out you lied. You are such a fucking idiot!

You can’t fucking read at all and you create arguments out of thin air. The reason why those boxers make that kind of money is because most of them invest in the fight, they are on the promotional side of things. Those are the headliners also, noticeably you didn’t list any undercard fighters. If you are an under card fighter, you are much better off in the UFC, than in boxing. There are more impoverished boxers on the highest levels than there are mma fighters.

But here are a list anyway of mma fighters who will clear 5 million in their careers who are actively fighting and are not the top 2:

Velasquez, Mir, Dos Santos, Machida, Nogueira, Quinton Jackson, Tito Ortiz, Dan Henderson, Jon Jones, Weidman, Belfort, Pettis, Gustafsson and what is funny is none of those guys promote their own events like most of the boxers you gave do when they are the A fighter.

And before you critique any of the mma fighters above for being as you homosexually put it as “fight gods”, the only boxers who you claim apparently are your feminine “fight gods” are Mayweather and Pac. What is also funny is I didn’t even have to use retired fighters. Haha.

Have you ever gotten any statistics or numbers correct since you started posting on here, you idiot?

  21. FightBusiness on August 6th, 2014 8:42 AM

d- you truly are a dumb fucking creature. Not 1 person on your list has cleared over 20 million. I requested half of your list have that. You failed. I also requested you stop making excuses and just give me numbers faggot. You fuckin failed again (they dont promote their fights) Jon Jones is a fight god you fuckin dummy! Many people say he is on pace to be the greatest of all time. Did I put Bernard Hopkins on my list? He’s cleared over 30 million in his career. Mir has not made over 5 million you fuckin faggot. he probably hasnt made over three million. Noguira hasnt made over 5 million either. You’re just making shit up. Anthony Pettis has no shot of making over 5 million in that little midget division that he’s in. dude made 55k in his last fight and hes fuckin good! Doanire’s made 1.2 million to fight Ringendoux. BWAHHHHHH. Andre Berto’s made 400k in some fights. You failed! By the way Mosley just retired 8 months ago but Victor Ortiz can take his place bitch. You failed!

  22. D on August 6th, 2014 3:28 PM

The only thing dumb about me is possibly the fact that I am engaging with someone who is beyond retarded. Every figure you present is false. What are you talking about 20 million? You said 5 million you stupid fuck! Now you are changing it to 20 million? How many fighters on your list have or will hit 20 million? 2?

Everything you state is an excuse. I don’t give a shit what you request twat face. You are a fucking jackass and to expect me to abide by your autistic guidelines that have no meaning other than they fall in line with one angle that makes boxing look brighter than mma, is comical idiot.

They don’t promote their fights???? You stupid moron. Most of those guys do. Nearly every A headlining fighter in boxing does that is a big name. Why do you think those guys get as high as an 80-20 split? One would have to, in order to be clearing that type of a percentage.

Here you go with more of your homosexual lines: “Jon Jones is a fight god” You are the god of queer. Jon Jones is not and never was the highest paid ufc fighter. Silva and St Pierre who are both still under contract with the UFC are 1 and 2. You put the Wladamir Klitschko on the list, a guy who is the 3rd highest paid boxer in the world and act like he is a lower draw like those other boxers you mentioned. You take the top 2 boxers and say they are your “fight gods”, but in the ufc apparently there are a number of different “fight gods”. Haha. A combination of you once again comparing apples to oranges with a twist of your own homosexual vibe. Haha.

Mir has definitely made over 5 million. At one point in time he was the highest paid heavyweight. He has had 23 ufc fights. All that would mean is he made an average of 218, per fight. Keep in mind in the Lesnar fight he was getting ppv points and probably made 2-3 million for that fight alone, you dickless moron. As has Nogueira fought tons of times on the highest level and has received ppv points. These guys make millions. Pettis is arguably the best fighter p4p in the world. Once he defends his title a few more times he is going to be doing big ppvs. You are so stupid it is unreal. Pettis made way more than 55k for his last fight.

Bernard Hopkins generates zero interest these days. His gates do a few hundred grand. He is semi retired and this will probably be his last fight coming up.

You are literally the dumbest person on here who attempts to sound like he knows what is going on. You are too stupid to even look at the numbers that are posted on this website that debunk all of your delusional claims. Haha. Moron.

  23. D on August 6th, 2014 4:09 PM

    *218k*

  24. D on August 6th, 2014 4:14 PM

By the way idiot, Pettis made 104k in disclosed salary from his last fight and that is without including what he was paid to promote the fight, his ppv points or any other undisclosed money he made.

This is the same theme with you. You are wrong on literally all the stats you claim.

  25. FightBusiness on August 6th, 2014 9:44 PM

D- You are truly are a dumb fuckin creature. you said my list had 2 guys who will make over 20 million in their careers. how about 6 you fuckin faggot. (Marquez, Klitsckos, Cotto, canelo, Bradley) Regardless of what Bernard generates he makes lots of money. He made 12 million fighting Taylor twice. 10 million against Delahoya. Pettis made 104k. Dare to dream. I cant continue this conversation. I have standards My iQ is fuckin dropping. Are you from Texas? I will neer address you again. Seriously.

  26. The Greatest on August 7th, 2014 3:07 AM

D how many UFC fighters have made $1mil this year alone? None

Over 17 boxers have made over $1m for stepping into the ring.

Brandon Rios just the other week made 925k to face Diego Chaves who made 25k put was getting paid also by Argentian TV.

Cotto made $7mil in his fight against Sergio, who in turn made at least $1.5mil
Canelo made $7mil vs Lara who made $1mil. Abner Mares made $500k on the undercard of that ppv.

Nonito Donaire a year ago made $1.32mil to fight Rigondeaux who made $750k

Donaire makes $1mil a fight and if he fights Lomancheko, thats going to be even higher.

Boxers from all over are makin over $1m a fight while the UFC gets maybe 1-2 fighter who do.

  27. D on August 7th, 2014 7:44 AM

    THE GAYEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  28. D on August 7th, 2014 7:52 AM

Fightbusiness you are such a retardddd!

You use examples of semi retired or fully retired fighters like Vitali Klitschko.

Guys like Bradley/Marquez will make that much money ONLY because they made it off of the back of Manny/Floyd! Take those fights out of the equation and they certainly don’t make 20m.

Not too sure Bradley will be making 20 m anyway even with those fights.

Yeah Bernard Hopkins made that type of money YEARS AGO!! He is 50, is semi retired and no one cares about him anymore. His fights generate no money anymore.

Yeah, you realize you were a moron and Pettis’ disclosed figure was 104k, but again you are too stupid to realize this was not his full pay. He was paid to promote the fight, plus he most likely made undisclosed bonuses. You are too dumb to realize these things because you have your head up your ass.

I’ll await for your future statistics involving flat out lies or drastically inflated numbers that you could have learned by simply looking at the articles on this website.

    You are a complete moron.

Got something to say?
