JDS signs with Nike Brasil

November 14, 2012 by Jason Cruz 1 Comment

MMA Junkie reports that Junior dos Santos has signed a sponsorship deal with Nike Brasil.  The UFC Heavyweight champion will likely don the swoosh this December in his title defense against Cain Velasquez.

The official deal was confirmed by SporTV.com.  JDS becomes the third UFC fighter to be sponsored by Nike.

Nike Brasil sponsors football/soccer players and teams and was the official sponsor the Brazilian Summer Olympic team.

Payout Perspective:

As we reported a couple weeks ago, the Nike deal was imminent.  Although it is not as broad in scope as the deal given Jon Jones, it is still a good deal for JDS and helpful for the sport.  With the popularity of the sport in Brazil, the JDS sponsorship should help with Nike sportswear sales in the country.

Since its Brazil I can only assume the market would pay him less than Nike America would. ?
