TUF 12, Episode 7: 1.3 HH

October 29, 2010

MMAPayout.com has learned that episode seven of TUF 12 scored a 1.3hh rating on the strength of 1.9 million average viewers. The broadcast also fared well in the M18-34 and M18-49 demographics with a 2.2 and 1.84, respectively.

Quarterlies: 1.27, 1.30, 1.21, 1.27

Payout Perspective:

This is the fourth week in a row that TUF has generated a 1.3hh rating and that looks to be where this season will average out when all is said and done. The peak of the series was obviously TUF 10 with Kimbo Slice, but it’s encouraging to see that TUF 10 may have shaken things up enough to give a permanent .2-.3 boost to the HH ratings; good for an extra few hundred thousand viewers every episode beyond what TUF was doing before Season 10.

I know they have the next season ready to go, but I would have to imagine the season after that will involve 135 and/or 145 and I’m sure they’ll do everything they can to get Urijah to be a coach on that season.

The first “big” fight as far as future possibilities go for the UFC/WEC merger is Urijah’s next fight, if he wins it means a lot of money for him and a great poster boy for UFC to push, but it’s not an easy fight for him.

TUF did pretty well on a night when the World Series and NBA were available.

On another note, does anyone else know why Dana White loves the Korean Zombie so much that he keeps wearing his shirts. Its great for Chan Sung Jung especially since he’ll be on a UFC card sometime next year. It is also great for Tri Coasta, the shirt maker. The company benefited from some great visibility when White wore KZ’s original shirt at weigh-ins at UFC 113.

The one he wore during the “baseball” portion of the TUF episode appears to be version 2 of KZ’s shirt.
