Zebra Announces Launch of New B2B MMA Business Magazine

October 20, 2009 by Staff Leave a Comment

(Maple Grove, MN) – Chuck Blanski, President of Zebra Mats, has announced the launch of a new business-to-business magazine serving the rapidly-growing mixed martial arts industry. The premier issue of MMA Business will roll off the press in mid-January. The controlled circulation publication will be distributed free to a highly-targeted audience of 8,000 owners/instructors of Mixed Martial Arts, Jiu Jitsu, Kickboxing, Grappling, Muay Thai, Combat Sports, Self-Defense and Submission training centers, schools, academies and clubs.

“As a leading product supplier to the industry, we felt there was a real need for a B2B magazine devoted to the growing sport and business of mixed martial arts,” Blanski explained. “The focus of the magazine will be to deliver targeted editorial on the business-side of MMA, including coverage of industry trends, research and analysis, expert advice, news and best practices.” MMA Business will be published six times a year in 2010 (January, March, May, July, September, November). Blanski also indicated that plans call for the addition of an Industry Resource Guide and a companion online web product in 2011.

While MMA Business is the brainchild of Blanski and Zebra Mats Vice President of Sales & Marketing, Jimmy Pedro, the magazine will be run separately from Zebra Mats and will be published by MMA Business, LLC. Blanski and Pedro will serve as industry experts and advisors, however the magazine staff will consist of experienced B2B publishing, editorial, sales and design professionals from across the country. Blanski announced that Richard Hendricks will serve as Publisher of the magazine. Hendricks brings 30 years of publishing experience to the team and managed several award-winning B2B magazines such as Powersports Business and Boating Industry. The editorial staff will be headed by Editor Glenn Hansen, former Communications Manager for American Suzuki Corporation. The editorial team will be guided by a unique MMA Advisory Board, consisting of some of the industry’s leading mixed martial arts business owners and instructors.

“MMA Business will be a targeted source for advancing the Mixed Martial Arts industry. Our goal is to put product and service suppliers in direct touch with qualified owners and instructors,” Blanski said. “It will be focused 100% on the business of Mixed Martial Arts. As the sport becomes more mainstream, the opportunity for businesses in this industry to grow has increased. MMA Business will provide an edge for those businesses looking for long-term growth and profitability.”
