Couture Re-signs with UFC

August 29, 2009

Randy “The Natural” Couture put on a performance worthy of his legendary status in the sport on Saturday night, and now he’s been rewarded with a brand new contract that will extend his association with the UFC for another 28 months and 6 fights.

Both Dana White and Couture shared the news with the press following his UFC 102 bout.

While no future opponent has been named, Couture has been open about the possibility at returning to light heavyweight in search of “interesting fights.”

So this man’s plan — and who am I to question it — is to keep fighting until he is 48-years-old? Truly mind-boggling.

Randy showed incredible heart in losing to Minotauro in what was in my opinion UFC’s best fight of the year on its best overall card of the year, and has certainly earned the big contract extension; he says he wants to end his career with UFC, and it appears that will indeed be the case.

Couture has specified light heavyweight opponents he thinks make interesting match-ups for him: Lyoto Machida and Anderson Silva. Whoa.

Got something to say?
