Davis-Garcia draws 1.2M PPV buys

April 26, 2023 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

The Sports Business Journal reports that this past weekend’s Gervonta Davis-Ryan Garcia fight drew 1.2 million PPV units.  Also, it was the 5th highest gate in Nevada history with $22.8 million for the sellout at T-Mobile Arena.

The big fight saw Davis stop Garcia with a liver shot in the seventh round.  The PPV aired on Showtime and DAZN and based on the numbers it was an outstanding success.

.@Showtime sold more than 1.2 million PPV units for Saturday's #DavisGarcia super fight @TMobileArena, where the gate was $22.8 million, per sources, in what appears to be a big commercial success.

Payout Perspective:

The buy rate report and gate reflect the popularity of this matchup as well as the star power of Davis and Garcia.  Even at a catchweight and not for a title, the matchup was one boxing fans wanted.  This is a reflection of Davis’ ability as a boxer and general popularity of Garcia with a huge Mexican fan base.

Sounds like a coach having a mental breakdown

Marvin L James II @sportsguymarv

Heard a story of an AAU coach who put all 10 of his players on the floor at tip off. The refs told him that 5 needed to get off the court. He didn't and got a tech. He turned to the parents behind the bench and said, "See, I told you that they all couldn't start!"

This is Dillashaw-Soto level of bad

It's quite possible that the #Mariners could lose the next 12 games...I just looked at the sked. Yankees, Astros, Brewers and Cubs....
