WWE announces cuts amid huge C-Suite raises

April 25, 2026 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

On Friday, the WWE announced the releases of at least 24 contracted wrestlers. This includes several WWE trainees as well as long-time talent.

Notably, the Wyatt Six stable was cut. All had participated on the WWE Smackdown on Wrestlemania weekend. Also let go were the underutilized Motor City Machine Guns as their time on Smackdown never materialized. Also let go were Kairi Sane who was involved in an angle with Iyo Sky and Asuka.

With the releases, WWE called up several NXT talents including Jacy Jayne and her group Fatal Influence who made their debut on Friday. Also coming up are former AEW talents Ricky Saints and Blake Monroe.

The timing comes a day after SEC filings revealed a huge increase in compensation for TKO CEO Ari Emanuel who received $67M in compensation. Also, WWE head Nick Khan made $24M in 2025.

WWE roster cuts come every year with talent that they don’t have anything for or trainees that are not performing up to their standards. Yet, it comes at a time when the company has the revenues to keep several of these individuals. However, the releases may help several of these performers actually “work” on the independents rather than wait for a potential angle for a miniscule time on television.
