Boxingscene.com reports that Thursday is the deadline for Floyd Mayweather, Jr. rectify comments he made about a potential fight this fall with Manny Pacquiao.

It has been announced that the two would fight September 19th at The Sphere in Las Vegas. However, last week Mayweather made comments that the fight would be an exhibition. According to the CEO of Manny Pacquiao Promotions, Jas Mathur, Mayweather has taken an advance on his purse for the fight. Mathur claims that contracts have are in place for the fight at the Sphere and that it will be a professional bout, not an exhbition.
Notably, Mayweather made the announcement that he was coming out of retirement to fight professionally. He had an exhibition scheduled with Mike Tyson in the Congo this spring and then another in June in Greece. Whether either of these fights will occur is not known.
Also of note, Pacquiao had been scheduled to fight Ruslan Provodnikov in two weeks although that fight is likely not happening.
It was not disclosed how much money Mayweather was advanced as a loan to him but it has been documented that the former champ is experiencing cash flow issues.
The big issue taken from the article is that Mayweather was given an advance on his purse for the fight based on the fight being a professional fight at The Sphere on Netflix. One might infer an exhibition would receive less compensation.
According to the report, Pacquiao is not happy with Mayweather’s change of course.
