MVP announced the first 3 events events on ESPN which begin April 5th.

After losing Sunday Night Baseball on ESPN, the network is pivoting to women’s sports on Sunday night which will include women’s boxing. Variety reports that ESPN will dedicate the whole day to women’s sports calling it Women’s Sports Sundays. In addition to boxing, the WNBA and NWSL games will be featured.

Amanda Serrano has been featured with MVP Promotions since the inception of the company. Her fights with Katie Taylor sparked major interest including 4.2 million viewers on Netflix for a standalone card featuring the third fight between the two. The viewership reflects an interest in women’s boxing that has been absent from the sport.

A good move for MVP and ESPN to showcase fights. It also reflects a potential way back for boxing to get back on linear television.
