Breaking: Floyd Mayweather announces he coming back

February 20, 2026 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

Floyd Mayweather, Jr. announced via press release that he plans on returning to professional boxing after an exhibition bout with Mike Tyson this spring.

Mayweather last fought a sanctioned boxing match in 2017 when he stopped Conor McGregor in the 10th round in Las Vegas. Prior to that, he defeated Andre Berto in September 2015 in Las Vegas which marked the last time he fought a qualified opponent. Mayweather was 38 years old at the time. Mayweather is now 48 years old.

Since the McGregor fight, he has fought exhibitions against low-level opponents or social media stars. His fight with Tyson will be in Congo. No word on future opponents at this point. Of course, Manny Pacquiao recently announced that he is fighting an exhibition against Ruslan Provodnikov on April 18th in Las Vegas. The stars are aligning for a rematch of their May 2015 fight.

The Friday afternoon announcement is conspicuous when Mayweather recently filed a lawsuit against Showtime and Stephen Espinoza claiming that they knowingly allowed Al Haymon to take millions of dollars from him. Dan Rafael indicated that Mayweather may have privately settled any issues he may have had with Haymon. Earlier in the year there were reports of Mayweather’s financial matters including a New York Post story which claims he owes more than $330K in unpaid rent. Mayweather stopped paying rent on his luxury duplex this past July and agreed to a settlement in December which he has yet to pay.

Mayweather is undefeated in his pro career sporting a 50-0 record.

Yes, the Pulitzer-winning journalist is the source we should ignore, not the people who continue to want access to the LA sports team they cover. This was a dumb thing to think and an even dumber thing to tweet.
