Terence Crawford retires

December 16, 2025 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

Terence Crawford announced his retirement from boxing on social media. His last fight was in September against Canelo Alvarez.

Two weeks ago, Crawford took to social media to denounce his need to pay a sanctioning fee for the Canelo fight. The evidence was used to fuel the fire by politicians as a hearing was held in support of a law which would allow Zuffa Boxing to create its own organization without the need for a sanctioning body.

The 38-year-old finished his career 42-0.

Payout Perspective:

In my opinion, Crawford is not retired because no one ever retires in combat sports. With Zuffa Boxing on the horizon and Crawford entrenched with Riyadh Season and Dana White I don’t believe that he’s truly gone. Only on hiatus. Crawford has just fought once in 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025. So, its hard to think that the wear and tear of the sport is getting to him. Even into his late 30s, Crawford did not look like he had slowed in his fight against Canelo.

Yes, the Pulitzer-winning journalist is the source we should ignore, not the people who continue to want access to the LA sports team they cover. This was a dumb thing to think and an even dumber thing to tweet.
