John Cena’s final match took place in Washington, D.C. on Saturday night. According to reports, the company wanted Donald Trump at the match.
Dave Meltzer reported that WWE wanted Trump to be part of the event but he declined the invitation. Notably, Trump is in the WWE Hall of Fame. While Trump did not attend, Department of Education Secretary and former owner of WWE, Linda McMahon and the Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. were in attendance.
Trump made an appearance at the Army vs. Navy football game earlier in the day in Baltimore, Maryland and could have made it.
Payout Perspective:
Fortunately, Trump did not show up to take away from Cena’s final match. Trump went on social media to make the double murder of Rob Reiner and his wife about himself. While media never goes after the president for his social media blunders, this may have been a PR issue to associate WWE with Trump. Obviously, we know Trump and UFC are close, but WWE fans are not as politically tied to him.
