Prosecutors will not seek case against Jones for February car accident

September 4, 2025 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

New Mexico State prosecutors have decided not to pursue a criminal case against Jon Jones stemming from a car accident in February 2025.

Jones had been placed at a scene of a car accident in which he allegedly left the scene with a female passenger. From footage of the police body camera obtained by TMZ, the woman appeared to be injured (and without pants), and had the phone number of someone that sounded like Jon Jones. Jones appeared to implicate himself as he attempted to provide an alibi based on the body camera footage. But, this did not persuade prosecutors to pursue the former champions on crimes that he fled the scene of an accident or threatening a police officer.

Payout Perspective:

While Jones’ attorneys were emphatic that this were the police out for Jones, the facts seemed to at least implicate Jones at the scene of the crime. By the way, do we know whose vehicle it was that was involved in the accident? If not Jones, then maybe there’s a plausible reason that the district attorney did not pursue the case. If it was registered to Jones, one has to wonder what the former champ has to do to face accountability. Again, Jones own worst enemy seems to be himself. Even though prosecutors did not believe it had legal evidence to convict Jones, it does not mean that the person on the other end of the phone was not Jones.

Yes, the Pulitzer-winning journalist is the source we should ignore, not the people who continue to want access to the LA sports team they cover. This was a dumb thing to think and an even dumber thing to tweet.
