Mayweather-Tyson agree to exhibition in 2026

September 4, 2025 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

TMZ Sports first reported that Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and Mike Tyson would participate in a boxing exhibition sometime in 2026.

The event is being promoted by CSI Sports/Fight Sports but no announcement has been made regarding a location, date and the broadcast partner.

Tyson’s last appearance in the ring was the much heralded showdown with Jake Paul in November 2024. Tyson lost a decision to the former social media influencer and revealed grave health issues prior to the fight. Notably, there was much hype for this Netflix fight although many fans oversaw the fact that Tyson is nearly 60 and Paul is only 28.

Notwithstanding the fact of aging and the possibility of death, Tyson is determined to return to the ring. Mayweather is determined to squeeze out every last drop of the turnip he can in fake boxing.

While no broadcast partner has been identified, you know that Netflix has been pitched about the possibility of streaming this.

Will this fight make money. Sure. Everyone is gullible. This event shows that everyone is into the event and not the sport. Media and influencers got fans into a frenzy as if Mike Tyson was going to upset Jake Paul. It was clear that Tyson should no longer being competing in a sport where one has to take off his shirt. Moreover, I do not know how any commission would allow him to box competitively as he did last November.

Expect Mayweather-Tyson to be a glorified light sparring day in any boxing gym. While there will be a lot going on to dress up the event, do not expect the sport of boxing that night.

Yes, the Pulitzer-winning journalist is the source we should ignore, not the people who continue to want access to the LA sports team they cover. This was a dumb thing to think and an even dumber thing to tweet.
