BJ Penn arrested twice for alleged domestic violence

May 27, 2025 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

The sad downward spiral of former UFC champion BJ Penn continued this past weekend as he was arrested on Sunday at his home in Hilo, Hawaii for alleged harassment of a family member.

One of Penn’s friends videotaped the encounter with police in what appears to be Penn’s home where he was laying in bed surrounded by officers. The video was posted on Instagram. The video includes editorial on the part of Penn or his friend which is in line with unfortunate and odd behavior of the former champ.

Penn has claimed that his parents were murdered and were replaced by impostors.

Penn was given $2,000 bail for Sunday’s arrest. A day later, police logs show he was arrested again on the same charges.

On Tuesday afternoon, MMA Fighting reports that Penn’s mother has filed a restraining order against him. The court has not ruled on the restraining order but MMA Fighting details the statement provided by Lorraine Shin, Penn’s mother. She states that over the past several months Penn has used “extreme psychological abuse towards her…” She detailed how Penn had taken her belongings stating that they were his. This is in line that he claims that his parents were murdered and replaced with impostors.

Payout Perspective:

Unfortunately, its clear that Penn’s mental state is deteriorating rapidly and may be a harm to himself and his family members. His actions seem to be of a person that has dementia as its clear the stated actions of Penn are of someone that is not of his mind. Hopefully he gets the help he needs and does not harm anyone close to him.

Yes, the Pulitzer-winning journalist is the source we should ignore, not the people who continue to want access to the LA sports team they cover. This was a dumb thing to think and an even dumber thing to tweet.
