WWE changes Wrestlemania 42 location

May 22, 2025 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

Wrestlemania 42 was scheduled for New Orleans in April 2026. However, on Thursday, the promotion has changed course and reports are that it will head back to Las Vegas and Allegiant Stadium, the site of Wrestlemania 41.

The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, announced at a WWE event at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans in February that the annual money-making event for WWE would take place at the Caesar’s Superdome on April 11-12, 2026.

However, today’s news comes with the consolation that WWE will hold its 2026 Money in the Bank at the Smoothie King Center.

Also of note, the UFC will be holding a PPV at the Smoothie King Center on Saturday, July 19th featuring the retirement match of Dustin Poirier (a New Orleans local) fighting Max Holloway.

An interesting case of Vegas coming in once again to take the headlining event for the organization. You might recall that Minnesota was a favorite to host WM 41 but lost to Las Vegas. The return to Vegas is likely due to the fact it received the best financial incentives. Mark Shapiro discussed the boon of site fees for WWE events which is monetary benefits given to the company for holding events in the area. The return would be the anticipated tourism revenue the host city would receive. Las Vegas Tourism gave WWE $5M as a sponsor and $4.2M in tax incentives.
