Two UFC fighters suspended after Krause gambling investigation

March 25, 2025 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

The Nevada Athletic Commission has suspended UFC fighter Jeff Molina and former UFC fighter Darrick Minner at disciplinary hearings on Tuesday. The two were a part of the investigation into gambling by coach and former fighter James Krause.

The suspension come due to a November 5, 2022 fight in which Minner was set to fight Shayilan Nuerdanbieke however he had a knee injury that he did not disclose to officials. He lost via technical decision in the first round. The fight was flagged prior to its start due to suspicious betting line movement. U.S. Integrity launched into an investigation and the reverberation of the event caused several

Both were coached by James Krause. Molina was suspended three years and fined $235.56 in prosecution fees for failing to disclose his teammate Darrick Minner had an injury and then willingly placed a significant bet on the fight. The flyweight has been suspended since January 2023.

For failing to disclose significant injury, Minner was suspended 29 months and fined $235.56 in prosecution fees. Specifically, Minner failed to disclose on a standard pre-fight questionnaire that he had an injury.

Krause has been blackballed by the MMA community after the incident.

Obviously the issue is the purported attempt to profit off of nondisclosed information that should have been disclosed. The two fighters were not fined heavily as their livelihood had been affected. It is a sign to the MMA community to not attempt to beat the system. The sport is predicated on the ability to gamble and if there is a sign of a “fix” or impropriety, it would hurt the industry.
