Tsarukyan out, Moicano in to face Makhachev at UFC 311

January 17, 2025 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

A day before UFC 311, a change at the top of the card was needed after an injury caused Arman Tsarukyan to bow out of the main event. Renato Moicano was promoted to face Makhachev who gladly accepted the new opponent.

Moicano was on the main card and was to face Beniel Dariush. Although Dariush is ranked one spot higher than Moicano, it was the Brazilian on a four-fight win streak that received the title shot. Dariush had lost two straight heading into this fight. Unfortunately for Dariush, he will have to sit UFC 311 out now that his opponent has been promoted.

Moicano weighed in on weight to fight Makhachev on Friday morning.

Notably, the injury must have occurred sometime Thursday night or Friday morning as Tsarukyan participated in Thursday’s press conference.
