Bellator no more, PFL announces end of brand

January 14, 2025 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

PFL head Donn Davis announced on Tuesday that all events going forward would be Professional Fighters League branded. This brings an end to the Bellator brand which was acquired by the PFL in November 2023.

ALL fighters now integrated and connected in one powerful roster

In addition, the announcement coincided with the release of former Bellator champion Patrico “Pitbull” Freire.

Loren Mack, @PFLMMA Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications, just called my management team and said that my release is UNCONDITIONAL. Thank you @DonnDavisPFL and @PeteMurrayPFL for doing what is right. I’ll be waiting for the corrected release letter.

Payout Perspective:

Tuesday’s news comes after months of various Bellator fighters complaining about the lack of fights with the PFL. The news of one brand makes sense for the PFL but its inability to find a platform for a roster of Bellator fighters has to be considered a disappointment. We will see who the PFL retains from the Bellator roster in the coming days.
