Ring Boys lawsuit put on pause

December 5, 2024 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

A federal court in Maryland granted a stay in the motion of a lawsuit filed by five individuals who were underage at the time they allege they were abused by WWE ring announcer Mel Phillips.

The lawsuit is based on the 2023 Child Victims Act. The Act removes the statute of limitations for civil lawsuits involving sexual abuse of a child. Before the state supreme court is the constitutionality of the law. The court will not be expected to issue a ruling until August 2025.

This puts a lawsuit on hold which claims Philips abused young boys over 40 years ago. The incident with Philips was highlighted in the Vince McMahon documentary on Netflix.

Vince McMahon’s own lawsuit against him by Janel Grant has been paused due to the Department of Justice investigating McMahon.
