After his Motion to Dismiss the lawsuit was denied by a New York federal court on September 30th, Jake Paul has filed Counterclaims against Eddie Hearn, Matchroom Boxing and Glenn Feldman as a result of an alleged defamation claim. The lawsuit accuses Paul of defamation when he stated that Feldman, a boxing judge, of being on the take.
The lawsuit was filed back in September 2022 and Paul had filed a Motion to Dismiss claiming that he was not a citizen of New York, and the venue of the lawsuit was improper. Paul lives in Puerto Rico. He also argued that the state lacked personal jurisdiction. The Court denied both arguments.

After summarily denying the allegations in the September 2022 lawsuit, Paul countersued claiming that the original lawsuit was a violation of New York’s Anti-SLAPP laws.
Payout Perspective:
Paul has money to mess around with Matchroom Boxing and while Hearn believed he may have been making a statement to protect his reputation, Paul’s lawyers are responding. Anti-SLAPP statutes have been declared unconstitutional in some forums. Notably, Wanderlei Silva claimed use of it when the UFC sued him as he claimed that the fights were fixed. Anti-Slapp statutes fast-track dismissing cases unless the plaintiff can show the probability of prevailing. We shall see where this goes and if the parties will just settle this one out of court.
