New trial date for Le v. Zuffa

August 20, 2024 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

A status conference was held in the Zuffa Antitrust lawsuit before Judge Richard Boulware. According to multiple reports, the trial date for Le v. Zuffa is February 3, 2025 and will not be change short of an approved settlement between the parties.

The court originally issued an October 26, 2024 trial date but re-assigned the date to February 3rd. He noted that the date would not be moved short of settlement approved by the court. Judge Boulware denied the parties’ settlement for $335 million last month due to concerns over the payments to plaintiffs and the unnamed plaintiffs in the Johnson class.

The plaintiffs noted that the fighters they represent would be helped by the settlement money. The denied settlement would have seen fighters starting to receive money this fall. But now, they will almost certainly have to wait until 2025 or longer. Also, any verdict in favor of their clients would likely be appealed. Therefore, the trial would prolong any benefits that the fighters might receive.
