White states McGregor will not fight in 2024

August 16, 2024 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

Earlier this week, Dana White announced that Conor McGregor will not be fighting this year. The news is disappointing considering the anticipation of the return this year.

White stated that McGregor would not be fighting this year at the Contender Series scrum on Tuesday. He confirmed the statement in an interview with Sportsnet. White spoke with McGregor about his plans. And, McGregor was not happy about it sending a social media message that he should fight in December.

McGregor was set to fight Michael Chandler at the end of June but due to a broken toe, the plans were scrapped. Chandler has put other fights on hold to wait for McGregor. We will see if this continues.

Payout Perspective:

We will see if the UFC has a plan for McGregor going forward. It would seem that the injury was minor and McGregor could fight this year. However, the UFC has another plan for the fight. The result is that Chandler has been inactive as well as he is ensuring that he gets what is still a big fight (and big payday) against McGregor.
