Is boxing consolidating?

July 22, 2024 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

On Monday, Riyadh Season announced partnerships with Golden Boy and Top Rank Boxing. The announcement comes with an upcoming Riyadh Season event in Los Angeles, August 3rd.

Riyadh Season is a state funded entertainment and sports annual festival by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia established in 2019. Since its inception it has grown and reached out in promoting WWE events, boxing and UFC this past June. Notably, it will sponsor the UFC Noche (306) at the Sphere.

There are talks of a boxing league which is said to be gaining traction which would seemingly consolidate titles in the alphabet soup that is boxing sanctioning bodies. Nothing has been solidified but with the aggressive push the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia has had in golf, soccer and now boxing, it would not be out of the question.

The news that Top Rank and Golden Boy have forged agreements with Riyadh Season is a step toward something bigger.
