According to John Morgan, Khalil Rountree, Jr. stated to the Nevada Athletic Commission during the public comment portion that he intends to sue the supplement maker which caused him to pull out of his fight at UFC 303. He hopes that the Commission takes this into consideration when determining any disciplinary action.
In the post he stated he was taking a personalized “tailored supplement service” and they “accidentally sent a blended substance called DHEA.”
Rountree immediately let the UFC know of ingesting a banned substance but was taken off this weekend’s card.
Payout Perspective:
Filing a lawsuit against a supplement company is a fact-specific issue but could go one of two ways. It could go the way of Yoel Romero. Romero sued and obtained a default judgment against the supplement maker. However, the collection of the judgment was another thing. In the case of Lyman Good, he sued his supplement maker but the company defended itself and Good’s case was dismissed for his lack of preserving the purported tainted package.
