Mark Hunt is continuing his legal case against Zuffa and Dana White

April 30, 2024 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

Mark Hunt’s lawsuit against Zuffa, Dana White and Brock Lesnar was dismissed by the trial court last year, but the case is not over for the former UFC heavyweight. Hunt is representing himself against Zuffa in another 9th Circuit appeal.

Hunt has taken to social media to let White know that “May 8th” will be a day in which the public will be able to look an unsealing of documents. It is not clear that this is the case. Nevertheless, here is the post:

When u are called by the almighty u better grab that cross because only god knows where u are going may8th is the unsealing for u dumbass little thief @danawhite et al., and all those involved in the civil RICO contraventions here is my filing for the unsealing. pic.twitter.com/qRVkbH4DU3

Previously, Zuffa had “moved for sanctions” against Hunt due to the fact that he had used a “ghost writer” in filings to initiate his own appeal. His previous lawyers had requested to withdraw from this appeal which dismissed his case on summary judgment. Despite the fact he has a right to appeal the decision, it looked like his attorneys did not believe that they would prevail.

Notice of Intent to Unseal by MMA Payout

Zuffa and White requested the Court fine Hunt for using someone to write his appeal. They discovered this through a metadata search.

The Court has yet to rule on the sanctions request and I do not believe they will be unsealing any documents on May 8th as Hunt claims. Hunt is using motion templates found online. But, arguing one’s own appeal seems like a bad idea and one can surmise that a part of this is to try and embarrass the UFC and/or White. Unfortunately, this is likely to backfire.

But, MPO will continue to follow.
