Dwayne Johnson receives hefty payout for Wrestlemania appearances

April 17, 2024 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

According to an SEC filing, Dwayne Johnson received over 96,000 shares of series A TKO stock worth around $9 million at the time of the notice of transaction on April 7th.

It is being reported that Johnson, who is on the Board of Directors of TKO, received the shares as part of compensation for his appearances during Wrestlemania weekend which happened in Philadelphia April 6-7th. Johnson also appeared on television on an episode of Monday Night Raw on April 8th.

The distribution of shares would equate to $9.3 million if sold at April 17th share price of $97. Of course, its likely that there are restrictions on the sale of stock (i.e., he couldn’t immediately cash out there share once he received them) but it is still a hefty payout. Arguably, Johnson brought in the money for TKO as part of Wrestlemania weekend which had its biggest financial boons for a Wrestlemania to date in any metric (i.e., attendance, gate, merchandise, sponsorships, etc.)

Johnson is leaving WWE television (for now) to shoot a movie but its anticipated he’ll be back before the end of the year which means that the company should reap the rewards once again.
