NXT bests AEW in Tuesday Night War

October 12, 2023 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

NXT on the USA Network resoundingly beat AEW Dynamite on TNT in a battle of live television shows on Tuesday night. Per Sports TV Ratings, NXT had its best ratings this year scoring a 921K viewers average. AEW Dynamite drew 609K viewer average.

Notably, Dynamite’s ratings were down considerably while NXT’s was up dramatically. The two shows pulled out all the stops to top one another. AEW had a 30 minute “pre-show” and a 14 minute overrun from its timeslot. NXT included a shorter overrun but a whole cast of WWE superstars including an end with The Undertaker coming out to take out Bron Breakker.

The one night ratings war is a reflection of the ability for WWE to use its branded roster of established superstars to outshine AEW’s roster. Both companies did their best to outdo the other and it was the fans that won here.

We will see how much WWE wants to include its main roster superstars to supplement what it already has in NXT. Meanwhile, AEW’s roster has its own fans and just needs to establish storylines to get more interest.
