UFC 291 took place on Saturday night in Salt Lake City, Utah and the main event included one of the bonuses for the evening.
Justin Gaethje’s second round head kick of Dustin Poirier earned him a $50K bonus. The match was for the “BMF” belt which presumably is Gaethje’s now to defend. Regardless, his set up to stop Poirier was impeccable and he should be in line for a shot at the 155 title sooner than later.
Kevin Holland D’arce choke of Michael Chiesa earned him a $50K bonus. As the first fight of the main card, Holland was able to take advantage of position and submit Chiesa who had previously tapped to the submission.
“The Black Beast” Derrick Lewis gave us another memorable first round stoppage. This time he started off fast with a knee to Brazilian Marcos Rogerio de Lima and then finished him off on the ground. Lewis then took off his shorts and did a DX crotch chop.
The final $50K bonus of the evening went to Bobby Green as he submitted Tony Ferguson with a head and arm choke. It was Green’s first win since February 2022 and Ferguson’s 6th loss in a row.
