Davis-Garcia draws ~200K-250K buys, 124K for replay on Showtime

January 21, 2023 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

Last Saturday’s replay of the Gervonta Davis- Hector Garcia fight on Showtime drew 124,000 viewers per Nielsen via ShowBuzz Daily.  It was good enough for 140th overall out of 150 shows rated on Saturday night.

The telecast also featured the fight between Roiman Villa and Rashidi Ellis.  It was Villa that came back to win a majority decision over Ellis by knocking him down twice in the 12th round.

But it was the PPV main event of Davis-Garcia that drew the highest ratings.  The pre-fight before the match drew 106,000 viewers and the post-fight aftermath drew 117,000 viewers.

According to BoxingScene.com, the PPV drew 200,000 to 225,000 buys.

Payout Perspective:

The fight reflects the popularity of Davis and leads into a monumental fight with Ryan Garcia sometime this spring.  Davis, the clear fan favorite, drew 19,731 to the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.  The $80 PPV cleared at least $16M gross in revenue for the PBC event.  One might expect double or triple that for a Garcia fight.
