Stephanie McMahon announced her resignation from WWE as co-CEO of the company. The move comes a couple days after Vince McMahon was re-instated as Chairman of the Board of WWE.
McMahon announced her resignation in a social media post Tuesday afternoon. This past Spring, McMahon announced a sabbatical from the company to focus on family. In her post, she stated, “WWE is in such a strong position, that I have decided to return to my leave and take it one step further with my official resignation.”
Nick Khan is the sole CEO of the company and Paul “Triple H” Levesque is its Chief Content Officer.
Shortly after the announcement, the Board of Directors unanimously elected Vince McMahon Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors.
Payout Perspective:
This news is not entirely surprising. With the return of Vince McMahon, it was clear that Stephanie’s role would take a backseat as was going to happen last spring. The permanent departure reflects Vince McMahon will be spearheading the direction of the company as it negotiates its next TV deal and the possibility of selling the company.
