UFC flyweight Jeff Molina has been suspended by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. The news came out on Christmas Eve as it appears that the ongoing betting scandal involving MMA trainer James Krause is being extended further.
As a result of his suspension, Molina was withdrew from his next fight against Jimmy Flick on January 14th in Las Vegas. Flick now faces Charles Johnson at the UFC Fight Night. When the UFC announced earlier this month that all Krause trained fighters would be banned from UFC events if they did not cut ties, Molina withdrew from his January bout.
Krause and his fighter Darrick Minner are still suspended by the NSAC as part of the betting investigation which began in November. Minner lost a fight to Shayilan Nuerdanbieke on November 5th. After the fight, questions arose regarding betting patterns shortly before the fight. Minner had not disclosed an injury which may have been related to betting for the fight.
No statement had been issued regarding Molina’s suspension until the commission’s next meeting in January.
