ONE Championship announces US debut

December 5, 2022 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

ONE Championship will debut in the U.S. for the first time this May in the 6,500 seat 1stBank Center in Broomfield, Colorado. The main event will feature Demetrious Johnson-Adriano Moraes III. The event is set for May 5, 2023.

The event will air on Amazon Prime and will be free to subscribers.

According to a report from the Sports Business Journal, ONE Championship’s Chatri Sityodtong stated that the event will be a mid-tier product from the promotion and be on par with UFC Fight Nights.

Sityodtong has high aspirations for the promotion as he believes that it can make inroads in the U.S. Touting his promotion as the biggest in Asia, he indicated that the company is opening offices in New York and Los Angeles (something that it has indicated previously).

Will ONE Championship succeed in something that it has been intimating for several years? We will have to see how they market the event and if there is sufficient traction for consumers to watch. With the UFC, Bellator and PFL already a mainstay on the MMA scene in the U.S., ONE Championship will likely rely heavily on its Amazon Prime deal to garner eyes to its product.
