Benavidez draws 425,000 viewers on Showtime

May 24, 2022 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

Showtime Boxing on Saturday drew a rating high of 414,000 viewers for the David Benavidez-David Lemieux fight held in Glendale, Arizona Saturday night.

Benavidez won the WBC interim super middleweight title from David Lemieux via TKO in the 3rd round.  The new champ looked dominating and impressive in the fight.

The ratings are as follows.

11:14pm 43 mins (A18-49 0.16) 414,000 viewers Yoelvis Gomez-Jorge Cota

12:19 am 16 mins (0.16) 425,000 viewers Benavidez-Lemieux

11:57pm 22 mins (0.15) 404,000 viewers

11:04pm 10 mins (0.14) 373,000 viewers

10:20pm 44 mins (0.12) 341,000 viewers Luis Nunez-Jonathan Fierro

12:35am 14 mins (0.11) 271,000 viewers

10:00 pm 20 mins (0.05) 167,000 viewers Opening

Payout Perspective:

Good ratings for this fight on a night that had UFC as a quasi-lead-in for this fight.  Benavidez, who has been thought of as a potential opponent for Canelo Alvarez, was impressive in his decimation of Lemieus, a former Canelo opponent. Its important to remember that this is just the linear ratings and does not include those that may have watched on the Showtime App.  Also of note, despite an earlier fight having a better ratings, the Benavidez fight only last 3 rounds.
