Lance Pugmire among other boxing writers received news earlier this week that the Yorenis Ugas-Errol Spence, Jr. fight drew 240,000 PPV buys. The Showtime PPV event aired during Easter weekend during a particular busy time on the sports calendar.
Spence bested Ugas in the 10th round due to doctor stoppage in front of a packed house at AT&T Stadium.
Told by industry officials that the @ErrolSpenceJr @YordenisUgas PPV number is “looking like it's going to settle in the 240k-ish range. Given the (Easter) holiday and a busy sports calendar, a solid number IMO.”

The co-main event saw Isaac Cruz stop Yuriokis Gamboa via TKO in the 5th round.
Payout Perspective:
240K buys has to be considered a good rate due to the Easter holiday and NBA playoffs and UFC. In addition to the PPV buys, the gate drew around $5 million in addition to other ancillary revenues makes this event a success.
Does a showdown with Terence Crawford draw more interest on PPV or would we see a similar number? Spence-Crawford is a dream matchup of (arguably) the top two fighters in boxing today. But, does it gain the mainstream appeal that would draw a major PPV audience?
