UFC 271 took place Saturday night in Houston, Texas and the company drew another sellout with Israel Adesanya successfully defending his middleweight title against Robert Whittaker.
In addition, the promotion handed out its $50,000 bonuses for the night. Tai Tuivasa earned a $50K bonus by knocking out hometown favorite Derrick Lewis. In addition, Jared Cannonier solidified his stake to the next shot at Adesanya by stopping Derek Brunson. The Fight of the Night went to Douglas Silva de Andrade and Sergey Morozov for their prelim battle which saw de Andrade win via RNC.
The event was another sellout at the Toyota Center in Houston with 17,872 showing up for a gate of $4.3 million, which appears to be a record. The get-in price as of the day of the fight was $175. Last year, UFC 262 drew 17,000 fans for an arena record at the time of $4.1 million
