Triller Fight Club has been promoting a new form of combat sports it called Triad Combat which takes place in a three-sided ring. The event, set to take place at Globe Life Field in Texas may be in jeopardy as a fight promotion in Florida has filed a lawsuit against the organization.
UPDATED: Here are the two design patents owned by Lights Out Productions, LLC.
BYB Extreme Fighting Series and its Parent Company Lights Out Production claims it has filed a lawsuit against Triller, Triller Fight Club, Fite TV and Triller’s owner, Ryan Kavanaugh. This is due to the use of a TRIGON, triangle-shaped fighting ring that the organization claims it has a patent for and its being infringed by Triller, et al.
Triller is promoting an event at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas on November 27th featuring a three-sided ring promising fights with hybrid MMA/boxing rules. The event also is being highlighted by a concert by Metallica.
The lawsuit centers around the use of the triangle-shaped ring which BYB states it owns a patent on and that Triller’s use is infringing on the patent. “Lights Out owns two design patents, two copyright registrations, and two European design registration for its TRIGON designs, along with numerous trademarks associated with its bare-knuckled fighting events.

I have yet to pull the lawsuit off to read it but one would imagine they are claiming patent infringement. If this case gets serious, BYB could try to file an injunction to stop the November 27th event from happening within Triller’s concept of a triangle-shaped ring. MPO will continue to follow.
