Top Rank Boxing secures deal with Snapchat

November 17, 2021 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

Top Rank Boxing announced a new deal with Snapchat which started on Tuesday per the Sports Business Journal.  The deal will include a year-round presence on Snapchat and will be show live content on a platform show called, “Top Rank Uncut.”  Another show, “Top Rank Live,” will only air around specific fights.

The news comes during fight week for the Terence Crawford-Shawn Porter welterweight fight.  Although Top Rank’s linear and digital media rights are with ESPN, the snapchat deal will “work within the boundaries” of its other deals.

Previously, Snapchat has forged deals with the UFC and WWE for exclusive and live content.

Payout Perspective:

This may seem a little late for Top Rank to join Snapchat but at least it’s a try to entice boxing fans to use the digital platform.  It also hopes it can attract a young demo of fans to use the platform and promote through these means.  Medium like this can help promote a fight like Crawford-Porter through live and exclusive content.
